Ghanaians who suffer from high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes have comparatively higher levels of the vitamin A marker retinol in their blood than healthy individuals. This was the result of a study of an international research team led by Ina Danquah of the DZD partner German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) and Florian J. Schweigert of the University of Potsdam .
