(* 27. September in Elliehausen, heute ein Stadtbezirk von Göttingen; † 25. November in Leipzig) war ein deutscher Chemiker. Er hat mit der Elektrolyse von Carbonsäuren eine Verknüpfungsmöglichkeit der Alkylreste von Säuren entdeckt und stellte erstmals Salicylsäure aus Phenolat und Kohlendioxid her.
